PCDS Ecosystem Task Force
Industry sector: Industrials | Sub-industry: Research & Consulting Services
Introduction
The Product Circularity Data Sheet (PCDS) is a standardized digital fingerprint for sharing trusted data on the circularity characteristics of products across supply chains. The PCDS has been developed by the Ministry of Economy of Luxembourg and +ImpaKT, in collaboration with more than 50 international organizations.
The PCDS aims to save significant costs to manufacturers and their suppliers by providing a standardized approach to share product circularity information to their customers. It consists of an open-source data format from which standardized statements can be extracted and used by other stakeholders and platforms across the supply chain.
In parallel, an international norm is being developed under the ISO Technical Committee 323 (ISO 59040 - https://www.iso.org/standard/82339.html), which will provide a guidance framework for the PCDS and requirements on data exchange and minimum content. The work at ISO is led by Luxembourg and China.
