50 mins2024 plan discussions

ALL

  1. Authentic GAI Initiative: Wenjing Chu will lead the discussion to finalize the proposal with concrete deliverables.
    1. Urgency: Wenjing Chu cited the example Taylor Swift deepfake and voice deepfake in US Primary Election in New Hampture to support that we should take a more direct plan of action with the goal of writing a specification in 6 month (rather than the more leisurely pace of studying the problem and solution space first.)
    2. Wenjing Chu cited the NIST RFI/Biden EO  as a starting point for requirements. This will help us quickly focus.
    3. Wenjing Chu outlined a solution to the above problem by combining C2PA (and other data formats) and TSP to aid authenticity of GAI content (combined with others). This solution is directly applicable to several problems outlined in the proposal and articulated in the NIST RFI.
    4. There was a question on digital ID - Wenjing Chu cited VID (part of TSP), X5VTF, DID:WEBS. But the proposed solution would support any VID as defined in TSP.
    5. There was questions on who/what is C2PA and the CAI. Here is some basic info and links:
      1. Content Authenticity Initiatives focuses more on marketing the solution, while (C2PA) writes the spec. C2PA is also a LF JDF organization similar to ToIP.
      2. In recent demos, we saw Camera manufacturers like Nikon, Leica,... & Adobe Photoshop embed C2PA info in photo.
      3. Interest from OpenAI & Federal Gov to use C2PA for AI content.
    6. Requires authenticator & verifiable ID
    7. Problems solved: Provenance of data + authentic sender and communication.
    8. Requires communication median aligns with "AI & Relationships" theme
    9. ToIP Trust Spanning Protocol would provide the solution in a timely manner
    10. Neil Thomson Content Authenticity Initiative - transparency in content provenance | LinkedIn  Presentation by Adobe to ToIP on 21 Feb
    11. Judith Fleenor :
      1. "on this topic of presenting solution, I think we’d need to do a marketing effort to others interested. Just a thought."
      2. Should invite C2PA & Content Authenticity to participate.Wenjing Chu Or let them know what we're working on and ask them to validate the proposal
      3. What about "quantum-resistant cryptography"? Can TSP handle change? Wenjing Chu TSP will be able to do so one day.
  2. AI Practice: a ChatGPT-like tool for ToIP: Steven Milstein will lead the discussion on detailing how to proceed with this idea.
    1. We ran out time completely to cover the second item. We will postpone this to a later time. Savita Farooqui was also not able to join due to travel. We will reschedule.
