@Lynn Gray Bendixsen suggested evaluating if UFWG can be merged into another ToIP WG
@Jessica Townsend will approach @Judith Fleenor (Deactivated) on possibilities to re-activate UFWG
Slack entry of 23 November 2021
Hi UFWG,
Since May 2020, both André and myself have acted as co-chairs of the utility foundry working group. Throughout this period of time, we’ve enjoyed many great bi-weekly meetings with the community and worked together to producing many foundational pieces of documentation, such as:
  • A repository of public identity utilities;

  • Documented utility stories which contain the details of how they were conceived, and where they’re at today;

  • A utility lifecycle management framework;

  • A draft of a utility whitepaper that can be used to showcase to the broader identity community what utilities are all about;

  • Frameworks to evaluate existing identity utilities and how to start new ones;

  • + more we can’t remember as we write this!
    Both André and myself have reached points in which we no longer have the capacity needed to be good leaders to this working group. There is lots of important work ahead that must happen. The UFWG is a fundamental piece of the ToIP dual stack – it’s a vital piece to enable digital trust. We feel like this is the good time to transition leadership to new folks.The next UFWG meeting is on December 7, 2021. We want to put out a call to anyone interested to join this next meeting so that we can start the transition of the working group chairing to new folks. Hope to see many people join!
    Sincerely,
    André and Mathieu
