“VID Flavours”: including Decentralized Identifiers (DIDs), X.509 certificates and the Domain Name System (DNS) records) with high cryptographic assurance and strong semantic linkage; and,
“Trust Realms”: including how contrasting approaches to VID-based trust architecture can share common “Roots” of trust to establish interoperability between “trust realms”.
Through strong linkage between these different VID approaches, the Task Force intends to establish a foundation for establishing profiles A “bridged approach” to VIDs will provide the foundation for High Assurance (HA) Trust Registries, Governance Frameworks and Digital Credential Ecosystems over IP (ToIP) Profiles that are agnostic to the underling VID used. The goal of the Task Force is therefore to demonstrate that a “bridged approach” to VIDs can leverage , enabling decision makers to select the best VID for a specific context and purpose, without forgoing interoperability with other VID systems. Through designing a framework that supports the bespoke benefits of each “VID flavour”, where each flavour different VID flavours can co-exist rather than compete. As , and as a result, this is intended to will create a more robust, scalable, flexible and High Assurance architecture for VIDs that enable ToIP ecosystems to select the best VID for a specific context and purpose, without forgoing interoperability with other VID systemsthe internet of trust.
